In this typically Greek village, fishing boats call the harbour home. The pier with its colourful fish restaurant parasols, and the picturesque church to starboard, are unmistakable as you sail into the harbour.
Saturday: arrival in Lefkas
Welcome to Lefkas! From the airport, travel by bus or taxi to Preveza Marina or D-Marin on Lefkas, where you can check in from around 5pm. If you arrive a little earlier, settle in at one of the terraces in the villages near the harbour and unwind after your journey. Prefer a refreshing swim instead? Both harbours have a pool. Either way, Lefkas offers a relaxed start to your sailing holiday.
Sunday: Little Vathi, Meganisi
Luggage and groceries on board? Then it's high time to set off, for Vathi, a beautiful bay on the island of Meganisi. In this typically Greek village, fishing boats call the harbour home. The pier with its colourful fish restaurant parasols, and the picturesque church to starboard, are unmistakable as you sail in. Where will you have drinks and dinner tonight?
Monday: Kastos, Kastos
A new day, a new destination. Kastos is by far the most rustic spot in the Ionian, ideal for snorkelling in the clear water, if only to check the anchor. After sunset, in the glow of the moonlight, the view of the Dragonera islands is stunningly beautiful. Enjoy.
Tuesday: Big Vathi, Ithaca
Today you'll search for Ithaca, the island where, according to legend, Odysseus was born. The crossing to the larger island of Ithaca is a great chance to make the most of the good sailing breeze that picks up here in the afternoon. This deep bay is a good spot to anchor, and there are plenty of mooring options along the town quay too. Once the shops open in the capital, Vathi, the village really comes to life.
Wednesday: Sivota (Lefkas)
Sivota on Lefkas is a traditional village in the southeast of the island, around 33 kilometres from Lefkas Town. This cosy harbour is well sheltered from all wind directions. Sivota is a pleasant village with lovely waterside terraces and restaurants. Once you've entered the harbour, there's still plenty of time for a swim, with the beach just a short walk from the yacht. Sivota is a great spot for all ages.
Thursday: Atheni Bay, Meganisi
Atheni Bay is one of the most beautiful bays the idyllic island of Meganisi has to offer. If you've been here before, it's certainly no hardship to visit again. After today's wonderful sail, a drink on the terrace will go down well. Let yourself be surprised at the restaurant run by Dimitri and Spiros, where guests are always welcomed in playful style. Once the two of them are done cooking and serving, they'll treat you to some Greek dancing, a unique chance to pick up the steps that you won't want to miss.
Friday: Lefkas Marina
This is the last day of sailing on this tour, the time has truly flown. Keep your camera ready and watch for dolphins, you won't want to miss them. If you don't spot any, that's reason enough to come back to this beautiful sailing area.
