Historic Route through Croatia's islands

Historic Route

Sightseeing in Split, a city more than 1,700 years old and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit its many historic monuments before your sailing tour begins.

Day 1: Split

Split is a city more than 1,700 years old and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Before boarding, visit its many historic monuments: the Cathedral of Saint Domnius, Diocletian's Palace, the Peristyle, the Vestibule, and more. Your sailing tour can begin!

Day 2: Hvar, Pakleni Islands

Enjoy some sunbathing on the foredeck and discover the varied island of Hvar. Sail through the Pakleni ("Devil's") Islands archipelago, past the beautiful island of Palmižana. Spend the night in the town of Hvar, home to one of the oldest public theatres in the world.

Day 3: Vis

Rediscover the island of Vis. During the communist era, this former Yugoslav military stronghold was closed to foreign visitors. Vis has since opened up to the rest of the world and is now one of the most visited destinations on the Adriatic. Also visit the Blue Cave, a natural phenomenon on the island of Biševo, south of Vis.

Day 4: Korčula

Who wouldn't want to visit the island of Korčula, birthplace of the world's most famous traveller, Marco Polo? It's the sixth-largest Adriatic island, home to around 15,000 people across three main towns, Korčula, Vela Luka and Blato. Each has plenty to offer: historic sights, beaches, beautiful dense forests and wonderful food. Don't forget to try the Plavac Mali wine, a local speciality.

Day 5: Hvar

Sail back to Hvar and spend the night in the town of Stari Grad, the oldest town on the Croatian islands and a former Greek colony. Hvar has more sunshine hours than anywhere else in the Mediterranean.

Day 6: Brač

The island of Brač is a well-known paradise for windsurfers, jet-skiers and other watersports fans. Enjoy some sunbathing on the "Golden Cape", widely considered the most beautiful beach on the Adriatic coast, framed by high hills that create a spectacular landscape.

Day 7: Trogir

Trogir, a remarkable UNESCO-protected town, is enclosed by medieval walls on a small peninsula, connected by bridges to both the mainland and the much larger island of Čiovo. The town has the finest cathedral in this part of Europe. Also visit the old fortress, and wander the beautiful narrow streets lined with plenty of good restaurants and cosy bars.
