In this lively old town, with its narrow lanes, old Venetian buildings, statues and museums, you can easily spend a whole day wandering without ever getting bored.

Sunday: towards Platarias

After checking in and a thorough briefing on the yacht, you'll set off towards Platarias, a quiet, fairly modern village set in a deep bay on the mainland. Get an immediate taste of Greek life and its wonderful food.

Monday: lovely Paxos

From Platarias, round Corfu's southern cape and set course for the lovely island of Paxos. The charming village of Lakka sits tucked into a large natural bay with clear swimming water. Its houses, covered in ceramic tiles, stand out, and the village square has plenty of pleasant tavernas and restaurants. In Lakka, the Byzantine Church of Ipapanti and the lighthouse are well worth a visit.

Tuesday: free sailing or on to Parga

This area has plenty of variety, so today is yours to plan. Spend a day sailing freely around Paxos and snorkelling in the beautiful bays of Anti Paxos, or visit the town of Parga across on the mainland. The 9th-century ruin here is well worth seeing. Wander the narrow lanes with their countless shops and bars late into the evening, and if you don't fancy the walk back, Jannis's water taxi is always an option.

Wednesday: the paradise bay of Mongonissi

Sheltered on all sides, Mongonissi bay on Paxos is considered by many a little paradise. The small family-run restaurant here serves wonderful lobster, and after the meal there's time for some Greek dancing. The terrace, right on a sandy beach, is ideal for children. Many sailors would happily stay here for days.

Thursday: on to the Sivota islands

Set off for the Sivota island group, where the surrounding area hides many secluded bays with lovely little beaches and caves. Terms like "Bounty spot" and "blue lagoon" get used often around here. Along the boulevard of Mourtos marina, alongside the tavernas, are charming shops selling the well-known cotton Greek fishermen's sweaters, a great spot for anyone who loves distinctive jewellery too.

Friday: the journey back

This tour is almost at an end. After breakfast in the early morning sun, you'll set off for the home port of Gouvia. It's a distance of around 25 nautical miles with a northwesterly wind, making for a fantastic final day. At the end of the day you can check out, or stay aboard until Saturday morning. A lively evening in the village of Gouvia, with its good nightlife, is the perfect way to round off this wonderful sailing holiday.
