Travel by bus or taxi to Gouvia Marina, where you can check in from around 5pm. If you arrive a little earlier, there are plenty of terraces in the harbourside village of Kontokali where you can settle in after your journey.
Saturday: arrival on Corfu
Welcome to Corfu! From the airport, travel by bus or taxi to Gouvia Marina, where you can check in from around 5pm. If you arrive a little earlier, settle in at one of the terraces in Kontokali, a village right next to the harbour, and unwind after your journey. There's also a pool within walking distance of the yachts for a refreshing swim. A relaxed start to your sailing holiday.
Sunday: to Agni
Got everything on board? Time to set off. The first day's sail to Agni isn't far, giving you the chance to get to know the yacht properly and plenty of room to practise your first manoeuvres under engine. Agni's rustic bay is a good spot to anchor, and it's a great chance to use the snorkelling gear you brought along. In the evening, take the dinghy ashore to eat at one of the typical Corfiot tavernas.
Monday: excellent wind to Stefanos
Just past Agni, in the passage between Corfu and Albania, lies the well-sheltered bay of the village of Stefanos. Today is a great day for sailing in open water, with the excellent afternoon breeze that picks up along Corfu's north coast. In the distance you'll spot the islands of Erikoussa and Othoni. Prefer to relax in one of the many bays instead? No problem, it's only about an hour's sail to Stefanos.
Tuesday: to Corfu's east coast
Reaching Corfu's east coast means a fairly long day's sail. Today's destination is Petriti, a somewhat hidden fishing village on the island's east coast. Here you'll experience authentic Greek life in its simplest form. The fishermen who set their nets at night return to the harbour early in the morning and share a first ouzo at the local bar. Care to join them?
Wednesday: the Greek mainland
Today you'll cross to the Epirus region on the Greek mainland. North of the port town of Igoumenitsa, a number of rivers form a delta rich in flora and fauna. Surrounded by nature, with your yacht gently rocking at anchor, you'll wish time would stand still.
Thursday: chance of dolphins
Time to raise the sails again. Today brings another wonderful day's sailing, and the chances of spotting dolphins around the yacht are good, so keep your camera within reach. At the foot of a mountain, close to the Albanian border, lies the village of Sagiada, a typically Greek village that sees few tourists beyond sailors. The sunset you'll witness from this harbour is unforgettable. Those who fancy it can join an early-morning hike to an abandoned mountain village, enjoying beautiful scenery and sweeping views along the way. Satisfy your appetite back at Aleko's taverna, where the freshest fish and prawns come at a modest price.
Friday: back to Gouvia Marina
Richer in experience, you'll sail back to your home port. Here you can check out at the end of the day, or stay aboard until Saturday morning. After a typical Greek breakfast, it'll be time to leave the yacht.
Tip: it's also great fun to explore Corfu by scooter for a day, for example riding out to the Achilleion Palace.
